1 Crackers
This term is given to small bunches of short or broken fibres tightly twisted so as to form a short thick place in cotton yarn. When pulled between the finger and thumb a crackle is noticed as rupture of the twisted bunch takes place. Crackers are not often found in mule yarn as the carriage drafting would cause a break before formation. Crackers are rather a serious yarn fault and they may be only discovered when they reach the reed in the loom. -
